What Ever Happened To Article Marketing?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

There has been a lot of confusion. Over the past few weeks. Regarding a video made by Matt Cutts.

Who just happens to be one of the top dogs on Google.

In this video. He advises people.

“Not to use “Article Marketing”.

If you have been a follower of my blog for any length of time.

You will already know that Article Marketing is one of my favourite methods of getting traffic to my web site.

So as you can imagine. I was none to pleased to hear Matt Cutts casually dismiss Article Marketing as something. That has become  yesterdays news.

Should You Give Up On Article Marketing?

In my opinion NO!

Despite all the scare mongering tactics from other. Lets just say. Less than honest Affiliate Marketers.

Who are the ones that will keep on telling you.

That traditional Article Marketing has had its day.

( Just so they can sell their latest crappy product to you)

I firmly believe that using Articles for branding, back-links, and of course “Traffic”.

Will still be effective for many years to come.

While it is true to say that. Submitting the same article to multiple directories. Like Ezine Articles, Go Articles and Article Dashboard.

Does not work as well as it use to.

You can still get plenty of link juice and traffic. From writing your articles.

By simply making a few minor changes to what you already do.

What I have noticed. As someone who use to submit articles fairly regularly to the directories.

Is that most of them now want. Only original, exclusive, and quality content.

What this means is…

You now have a important decision to make.

Which is, to choose no more than 3 or 4 Article Directories to write for.

Once you have done this.

Concentrate your efforts on writing exclusive 500 to 1000 word articles for each one of them.

By doing this. You will avoid any major Google penalties. That could hurt your blog (SERP) Search Engine Result Page ranking.

Another change. That I recommend you make is.

Get your article written by professional writers.

To write guest posts for other blog owners. In the same niche as yourself.

I only have  just started doing this.  And I must say that I’ve been surprised and pleased with the results.

To clarify. In the beginning. you only want to guest post for high traffic web sites. That are very user friendly. And get commented on a lot.

You also want to make sure that your content sharing options are the same.

For instance. I use the Comment Luv, Pretty link Pro, and Only wire sharing options. On my blog at this moment in time.

So I am more interested in guest posting for blogs. That offer the same services.

WHY!… because of product and service association.

If visitors to my web site see that I am using the same plugin, software, or content sharing tools as them.

They will be more likely to respond. To what I have written.

Because of the subconscious connection that I have just made with them.

They also have the advantage of already knowing how Comment Luv or Pretty Link Pro works.

This greatly increases the chances of them sharing my articles to their friends.

So in closing…

Article Marketing is far from being “DEAD”.

You just have to be more selective on which web sites. You submit your content too.

If you are thinking of starting a blog. Or you are just someone. Who is exploring the Freelance Writing Opportunities out there.

My advice to you is,  to make article writing a big part of your plans.

Empire Avenue-Is it really better than twitter?

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Things have gotten just a little bit crazy for me over the past few days. It all started, when I opened one of the many hundreds of emails that I get everyday.

From Affiliate Marketers and spammers.

I do not remember the name of the person who sent me that email.

“And I’m still not sure If I want to thank him.”

Or throttle him for getting me hooked on the social networking game Empire Avenue.

15/5/11 Is when I joined,  and I already like Empire Avenue far more than Twitter or Facebook.

What I have found out in my few months of taking social networking more seriously.

Is that the people who use Twitter and Facebook are anything but sociable.

“Actually let me re-phrase that.”

If you have a Twitter and Facebook account, purely for business reasons.

Then you will find that most of the people who follow you. Are not that big on social engagement.

They are far more interested in promoting their business via automation.

This means that you end up getting a series, or sometimes even one message sent repeatedly on your news feeds. Empire Avenue encourages social engagement from its members.

That is why I like it so much. Unlike Twitter, you do not have to have thousands of followers to be deemed a success.

What is Empire Avenue?

In short its networking, gaming, aggregation and social currency all rolled into one.

You link up your social accounts through your Empire Avenue account.

Currently it supports Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Flickr (with Foursquare being lined up).

Through a combination of looking at your social media activity and people buying shares in you, you end up with a share value.

This share price rises and falls dependent on your ongoing social engagement, and the trading activities of your ‘shareholders.

If you want to rise on Empire Avenue, people need to buy you and if you stop engaging through your social networks than you’re price will fall.

It is so addictive that I am checking my price while I am writing this post.

The only minor downside that I have found so far is. That it is not the most user friendly of websites.

It will take you quite a while to know what goes where.

When you first visit Empire Avenue. But I have managed to

find some videos. That will make sure that you start on a firm footing.

Empire Avenue is more than just a game. If it were only that, I would not be writing this blog post. Trying to convince you to join.

As I said to you before. Empire Avenue encourages activity because of the clever way the site has been put together.

Think about this for a moment.

If you got a email from somebody that you don’t even know. Informing you that they have made a $200 investment in you.

You’re almost by default. Obligated to contact that person. Just to simply ask them why.

Before you get too nervous, Any investment made in you on Empire Avenue is virtual currency called Eaves. but don’t let this simple fact fool you.

Because virtual money can and does have the same psychological effect on the human brain. As real money.

I am living proof of that. Whenever I get a message, that somebody has bought shares in me. I take it as my personal responsibility.

To invest their money wisely, just like if it was my own.

So if you are looking for someone who is reliable, dependable, and a social networking animal. You could do far worst than

spending some of you’re Eaves on me.

Have you tried Empire Avenue yet? Do you like it more than Twitter?

Tell me what you think by leaving a comment below.

Why Can’t You Do Social Networking?

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Having a website and doing social networking at the same time is hard.

Running your own Blog and also doing social network marketing at the same time, is even harder.

I have been struggling for years with trying to do both of these important task, and now. I think that I may have finally cracked it.

In this blog post.

I will explain to you the method that I am currently using. That will make your social networking at least at least 70% more effective.

And you will be pleased to know that it will cost you nothing but a little bit of your time.

To follow my method you will need to join Stumbleupon, and download their toolbar.

I also recommend that you use the Google Chrome browser or firefox to get the best results.

Here are some boring statistics that you might already know.

The two most important Social networking sites are Facebook and Twitter.

But, did you know that.

Two of the most popular and underated social network sites are Amplify and Stumbleupon.

My method of doing social network marketing is all about getting the best from all 4 of these websites.

Facebook is the biggest of the bunch. But it is far from being user friendly.

Which is the main reason why at this moment in time. I don’t use it as much as the other 3 sites.

I don’t know about you. But I find navigating around Facebook a royal pain in the ass.

Why Use The Stumbleupon Toolbar?

If you are already a member of Stumbleupon, and get vast amounts of traffic from them. I congratulate you. Because I don’t, and I know that I’m not the only one.

In the distant past. I looked at Stumbleupon in much as the same way as Facebook. An almost complete waste of my time and energy.

Thanks to the Stumbleupon toolbar. I have now changed my mind, at least for the time being.

Using the toolbar allows me to connect with Twitter,Facebook, and Amplify. Almost at the same time.

Why is using Amplify is so important?

At the time of you reading this post. Approximatly 5% of traffic to my blog comes from hand held devices, and this is rising steadily.

Amplify has a large following of Ipad and Andriod phone users, and I believe that this is where most of my mobile traffic is coming from.

Throw in the fact, that there are far more people who have a mobile phone. Than a PC or Laptop.

You should be able to see why I recommend that you include Amplify in your marketing mix.

Finally…

If you do decide to follow my latest method of Social Network Marketing.

Remember that it is all about being consistant.

You will only get a lot of traffic from Stumbleupon.

If you Interact with the community, stumble other interesting websites, and  just be sociable.

Are you a social networking junkie?
