Internet Marketer Or Blogger-Which One Are You?

Is 2015 going to be the year that you start your first blog?Internet Marketer or Blogger

If your answer is YES!

Then you need to give some consideration, to what type of blogger you want to be.

It goes without saying that as a newbie blogger.

In the beginning, You will find it hard to find, your true blogging voice.

My way of overcoming this problem.

Was to check out what topics, other bloggers in my niche were writing about.

This helped me to learn the characteristics, that set the great bloggers apart from the average ones. In my observations of closely studying the writing style of these bloggers.

I came to the conclusion.

That most of them are, either persuasive or pre-sell content writers. Or to put it another way. They are either Bloggers or Internet Marketers.

The great Bloggers (in my opinion)  write in a very relaxed way that immediately puts you at ease. Their content comes across as knowledgeable, honest, and trustworthy. And you rarely get the impression that they are trying to sell anything to you.

Here are some of the key characteristics of a successful blogger.

  • They tend to write longer and more informative articles
  • They tent to engage more with their readers
  • They tend to have less ads on their blog
  • They love using social media

Ana Hoffman is a great example of a blogger at the top of her game. I am a subscriber to her news-letter, she is very well established in the Blogosphere, and her content is right up there with the best writers in her niche.

Whenever I go to her site, I always feel like I am visiting a friend who I have known for a long time.

She has a very large and loyal readership base, and the amazing thing is that she managed to achieve this in a matter of months..

On the flip side of the coin.

Pre-sellers :Which is a name given to the more established Internet Marketers.

Always have their eyes on the prize. They write content that connects to their target audience. and concentrate more on getting you to take some form of action, that ultimately gets them a sale. Their content has a more direct tone and style.

Here are some of the key characteristics of a successful Internet Marketer

  • They tend to prefer using Video more than written text
  • They tend to send you more promotional emails
  • They tend to have more ads displayed on their blogs
  • They tend to try and sell you higher priced products

John Chow is one of the best Internet Marketers around, and he’s not to shabby at blogging either. I have been a subscriber to his news-letter for a number of years.

Unlike some other online marketers. He does not constantly bombard me with emails telling me to buy yet another WordPress Plugin.

He comes across as being friendly, but not over friendly.

Sure…there are ads displayed all over his blog ,but there is also a lot of good information that will help you to build your business.

When you really think about it.

The only difference between a successful blogger and an successful Internet marketer who happens to blog. Is their writing style.

So how do your become a better writer?

One word at a time and try to write a few words every day. That is what all of the best content writers do.

Blogging is no different,  it’s not rocket science but it does take a lot of work, time and patience.

    Interesting share .
The difference between the two has been explained really well. For a successful blogger writing is passion . Engaging more with the readers helps to build up a loyal audience over a period of time.

  2. I’ve been asking myself this very question. I’m about to start a reviews blog and I’m wondering how to pitch myself. I think I may go for the “blogger” approach – it’s less sleazy.

Hi Shaun, thanks for leaving a comment. So long as readers of your review blog think that you are a real and honest person. It really doesn’t matter in the long run, whether you are an Internet Marketer or Blogger.

  3. I think I’m both since I keep a blog and and an affiliate store.
I like the characteristics you shared with regards to successful bloggers.

Hi Kabenlah, thanks for leaving a comment. I think that if you love writing 1000+ word articles 3 to 4 times a week. Then you are a true blogger, I personally could never see myself doing this. And that is why I always say that I’m an Affiliate Marketer who knows how to blog.
