Why Does Affiliate Marketing Suck?

Have you ever asked yourself that question?why-affiliate-marketing-sucks

I know that I have, and still do sometimes.

And if you are a newbie reading this article.

I want you to understand that I feel your pain.

I know what it’s like to promote product after product without any reward.

So I’m not in the least bit surprised.

That you have come to the conclusion. That Affiliate Marketing sucks.

When I was a newbie I felt the same way as you. Until I discovered that.

With very few exceptions, people like yourself. Who are brand new to Online Marketing .Generally do not make any money.

One of the main reasons for this is. because Affiliate Marketing is like learning a skilled trade.

It is a trade where you learn by making mistakes, Sometimes very expensive mistakes. It really is the school of hard knocks.

But having said that.

You still have to eventually take the bull by the horns and try out things for yourself. Because It really is the only way that you will ever learn.

Another possible reason why you are not  making money in Affiliate Marketing is because. You’ve fallen for the classic trap. That most newbies fall into.

Which is a silly preconceived notion that you are going to start earning money within a couple of months.

Making money right away does happen for experienced Online Marketers, but it does not generally happen for people who are new to the game.

So where does that leave you?

Probably in the same boat as the other 95% of new online marketers. Who loose interest, and give up within the first few months.

Being Persistent Makes You Money

If you read the stories about Internet Marketers who have become big earners.

You will discover that the one thing that all of them had in common. Was a burning desire to succeed, no matter what the cost.

Desire was a powerful motivater  for them. It kept them going when they felt like giving up. It made them fumble along and  plug away. Until they experienced that first breakthrough.

They were persistent. They just kept going despite their lackluster results. And all of that persistence eventually paid of. Because something that they did online.

Caught the attention of someone big. And once that happens. The snowball effect kicks in.  Next thing you know, their blog traffic triples, quadruples and more. Bingo, the magic happens.

They become well known and their income skyrockets. It might seem like their success came overnight; but in reality it took a lot of persistence, time and effort to get to that point.

You Suck At Affiliate Marketing

Part of the reason I was so drawn to the idea of making this blog an authority on Affiliate Marketing. Was because of the long term benefits that it will bring to me in the future.

I can honestly say that I never thought of it as a set and forget website. I always saw it as a long term project.

You see, when your goal is to really help the website visitor by delivering some high level of insight or information about a very specific topic, then it becomes easier to follow on through.

Do you feel the same way?

If your answer is NO. Then you know why you suck at  Affiliate Marketing.

But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Because I know  that you possess some kind of life experience that other people would find interesting and really want to learn about.

You could  easily turn that knowledge into a  product. That people would be willing to pay for.

So the real question is… Are you going to do as I suggested? I  would say probably not.

But if you choose to do nothing, then you will  have no one else to blame for your lack of success. Other than yourself.

    Hey Paul,

I really like affiliate programs mainly because it provides upfront cash that can put right back into marketing. I think that’s the fastest way to build an online business.

    thanks

  2. Hahaaa… The real question and the default answer. Interesting!

It must be the very reason for most newbies failing to make any money through affiliate for long. Adrienne was different and it’s also true as you said:

    (1) She bought a book and followed what was taught
    (2) She plunged into in the very right time

But the problem these days is, there’s a huge competition at one side and people will read, learn and won’t follow. What an irony!

Thanks Paul for the wonderful post!

Hi Suresh, thanks for leaving a comment. Adrienne is a very focused and determined lady. This is something that most newbies lack, which is the reason why most of them give up on their dream of owning an online business.

awesome post Paul, most of the people who start affiliate marketing have a typical mindset of “no work with loads of money”. They tend to believe that somehow things will click and they will make money. Trial and error is the best method. Thanks for sharing a informative post.

      Hi Akhilendra

The fact that you can get started in Affiliate Marketing for free. Makes most newbies believe that they can also make money online quickly, without spending any money themselves. When the realization hits them that its not going to happen. They give up and go back to their day jobs.

    Hey Paul,
First, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment on my blog man. Hope to see you again 😉

Meanwhile, a lot of people are failing in affiliate marketing. Some see some results in their early beginnings like Adrienne and myself. I started off with Wealthy Affiliate and was able to make some earnings within my first month. However, real success comes with time, hard work and consistency.

You are very right about making your blog an authority in Affiliate Marketing. I also think that’s the best approach for long term earnings. By the time you start getting consistent traffic, you can monetize it in many ways for profit.

    Have a wonderful week Paul

      Hi Enstine

      Thanks for leaving a comment.

I use to be with Wealthy Affiliate back in the day. But I got side tracked by something else. So unfortunately for me I became a not so Wealthy Affiliate. Yeah you are so right about traffic. It is the key to everything that we do online.

    Hey Paul,

I have to correct you here Paul. You stated that “it’s a silly preconceived notion that you are going to start earning money within a couple of months. Making money right away does happen for experienced Online Marketers, but it does not generally happen for people who are new to the game.”

I was new to the game of affiliate marketing several years ago and I purchased a $37 eBook and I dove into it. I stared implementing everything that was shared in that book and I made money my very first week. I actually made my money back from what I spent on the book plus an extra $50. I had no clue what I was doing before I started. I was a total newbie!

You can start making money depending on what you’re doing and who you’re learning from. It’s not impossible but I will admit, for most it’s unlikely because they aren’t willing to put forth the effort of what it really takes.

      Hi Adrienne

Making money online years ago was a lot easier then.Than it is now.

Very few people knew what Affiliate Marketing or the Internet was about. I know that I didn’t.

      So somebody like you.

Who comes along at just the right moment. And has a personality that is so naturally bright and bubbly.

Would have been able to sell snow to an Eskimo at that time.
