How do you get your web site ranked highly in the popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing? Depending on what topic you’re Blog or Web site is about, getting it ranked highly in the natural search results can be extremely hard or very easy
For the purpose of this particular Blog post I will be concentrating on the Google and Bing search engines, showing you the differences between the two, and what factors they take into consideration before ranking your pages.
As a small business owner, I’m sure that you must get frustrated by having a web site that gets decent seo ranking in Google but ranks poorly in Bing, or maybe in your case it happens the other way around.
I have listed below possible reasons why this is happening and a few solutions to solve this problem.
1.Title tags: Google places more importance on title tags than Bing, so make sure that your keywords appear in your title at least once and no more than twice.
2.Google loves new content, and places a lot of importance to it. Whenever I write a new article or blog post, I always try to aim for a minimum of 500 to 800 words as I find that it increases the chances of my web pages being indexed and ranked higher.
Bing doesn’t seem to place the same importance on new content as Google at this moment in time but I have no doubt that this will change in the not to distant future.
3.Relevancy: every article, landing page or blog post that you write, should be always relevant to the keywords that you are trying to rank well in the search engines for.
Once again, the Google search engine comes out tops for relevancy, I have experimented quite a bit typing in different keyword phrases in both the Bing and Google search engines, and I find that Google search is far more accurate.
4.Back Links and outbound links: Google and Bing will rank your website more favourably providing it has keyword rich anchor text back link phrases that are relevant to your web pages.
Bing likes outbound links more than Google but, I would recommend that you only give outbound links to web sites that you trust.
5. Domain age: Both Bing and Google seem to favor older domains, so if you are trying to start off on a new business, it is better to purchase a domain name, that’s been around for some time.
Following the above listed points will help get a higher page rank from Bing,Yahoo and Google, what you have to remember is that Search engine optimization techniques change on a regular basis so you need to stay up to date.
Getting large amounts of traffic from Google which is, in my opinion the best search engine is very important, but having good, relevant, and up to date content on your website will be the real key to your success.
